There are many types of shoulder injuries including tendon and soft tissue injuries which can be caused by repetitive strain at work, racquet sports or DIY activities.
Other types of shoulder pain include “frozen shoulder” where there is a progressive tightening of the capsule surrounding the shoulder joint resulting in severe pain and a progressive loss of movement. This type of pain can result from degenerative joint disease e.g. osteoarthritis, or following trauma, injury or a period of immobility.
For any type of shoulder pain it is very important to achieve an accurate diagnosis with your physiotherapist to identify the source of pain. From this an appropriate plan of treatment can be put in place to restore movement, function and prevent further injury to the shoulder.
